Claret Wine
Based on the August Gothic prompt, "Crumbling stone walls".
A full list of prompts can be found in my posts on July 31st, if you would like to participate.
My skin weeps,
just so that I know I am alive,
rivers of claret wine flowing from the wound.
My body is a ruin,
the walls crumbling,
the edges of my mind once buttresses
collapse in on themselves,
self-loathing the worst hate.
I wait for the tide to come,
to wash away this breakwater,
let the saltwater flow
and wash away the pain.

Emma, your words are always special. But as someone with chronic pain this hit me HARD!! Lovely piece.
I felt every word of this, Emma. You are such an amazing word weaver!✍️✨️ "My skin weeps, just so that I know I am alive" that line will linger for days! Beautifully expressed! 💚🖤
