Corset
Boned or steel, it binds with intent,
but is it keeping something in or something out?
A cage formed of satin; plain, or brocaded
with swirling designs and colors that do nothing but tease,
laying down a temptation greater than an apple.
And did we really think, deep down in our hearts,
that a few layers of cloth could keep our worlds apart,
and hands off of flesh, warmer than the setting sun,
when the shadows encroach into our world,
and we are uncaged, desires running free?
Were we so naive as to think
that I did not know where the laces were,
could not pull on those satin threads,
unbinding the object of my desire,
and with lips on flesh claim my prize?
Or that you would not cut the cloth, scissors in hand
and a wild glint in your eyes, like a spark of fire,
and burn my whole world down
when you claimed it for yourself,
two temptresses, each as hungry as the other.

There is a thrilling tension in the realization that no amount of structured restraint can actually hold back the raw, mutual hunger of two people who have finally decided to set the world on fire. Divine Emma ✨
The notion of "uncaged" is nuanced for me. I enjoyed this very much! Catching up! Love, V
