Empty Space
And other poems.
Inspired by a prompt from Joe Sexton, at Saltwater and Sage, 'Somewhere I used to belong'. Empty Space There is moss on the stones, somewhere I used to belong. There are echoes from the walls, somewhere I used to belong. There are conversations held in whispers, somewhere I used to belong. There is a seat where I used to sit somewhere I no longer fit. ©️Emma Steel
Inspired by a prompt from Joe Sexton, at Saltwater and Sage, 'Departures and arrivals'. Always A Moment Too Late You depart, as I arrive, all I see is the going of you, never meeting at the cross-roads, always a moment too late on this lonesome journey. I have lost my way so often, always meaning to stick to the path, but detours forever throwing me off, on this winding road, and always as I arrive, you depart. ©️Emma Steel
Inspired by a prompt from Joe Sexton, at Saltwater and Sage, 'The moon on the water'. Longing I can see you, glinting on the water’s surface, but always out of reach. You cast your light, but I am never touched, the cold light teasing. You sit, so bold in the sky, so shy and distant. Isn’t this longing the stone that weighs the heart down? ©️Emma Steel

Gorgeous! I especially love the refrain in the first poem, and the moon in the last.
outstanding as usual! x
