Nothing Left
Based on the Gothic August prompt, 'Flickering candlelight'. All prompts are available on my July 31st prompt post or in the Subscriber chat.
Candlelight shifts and the flame gutters,
a million shadows marching through the streets,
some on the way to work,
some on the way home,
all just shifting with the flame.
I lie awake at night,
when the light is dead,
and the shadows bleed away,
nothing left to hold them together.
Each shadow a hole,
light stolen from us,
a void in perpetual daily motion,
waiting for the candle to be snuffed out,
and the shadow to be released into eternal darkness.

nothing left to hold them together.
Loved these lines :)
keep writing.. :)
I love how this could be taking place at any point in time, and the sensation of hearing life outside of your own cocoon churning along is so deeply universal.
